The cd protection that you all talk about getting around using the magic marker works by placing random junk on the outer track. The cd players do not play the cd, because they keep reading the random junk placed on the outer track. I dont remember why the players dont skip to the next track as it has been awhile since ive read up on the subject. What the marker does, is make that outer track of junk unreadable no matter what so the player skips it. Hopes this sheds some light on the subject.
