Why the heck did allenb get negs for his post?!?!? But anyways, AO's become like a home away from home on the net. My first task when I get on the net is always to visit AO and check out the active topics.

Well I like AO because of the people,it is similar to an international community.The topics range from A toZ the conversation is certainly varied with peacniks , war hawks, mellow, and enthusiastic people who present their views with subtle , well written and sometimes plainly spoken thoughts.It has technical help and people who are willing to share their knowledge with a human touch that makes it different from a dry bare bones technical site. It has a irc link and a music feature and a journal entry.But the difference is the same people come back here so you get to know them For sure it is never boring you have drama,friendship,advice and anger sometimes all rolled up into one site. Heh, I was thinking *exactly* the same thing!

Anyway, I started off at AO because I was taking an MCSE course, and was told this was a great place to learn more about security. Turns out they were right, but that's just the tip of the iceburg here. I've had some of the most intellectually stimulating conversations in my life here, and I've laughed at some of the stuff that goes on, and I've been kinda sad at how it's all gotten a little off-track. But more than anything else...I've made some *damn* good friends here, and it surprised me. I was one of the skeptics, the ones who said you can't make real friends online, they are just people to chat with and that's all. I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong (mostly cause it doesn't happen that often ) and I was wrong. I've developed friendships here that are better and more honest than friendships I have IRL, and I have met people I hope I never lose contact with. So...as much as I hope AO doesn't change, I think that in the scheme of things in my life, the friendships I've developed go further than this website, and if it all shuts down and is no more, I've still come away with something incredibly valuable.

AntiOnline has mainly been a place for me to learn. I've learned alot here (some more then my classes at school, which scares me) and I've also developed a few friendships with some really nice people here. I'm also glad that even when I'm sad or depressed, there are always a select few I know I can talk to and that I know they care. So, to me, AntiOnline is a few great things: Knowledge and Friendship. I definitely hope it doesn't change or go away. This place has become a home to me, and if it goes away, some can say I'll be home-less.

It's my place to go when I feel I SHOULD be doing work, and I don't WANT to work, but doing a game would be too obviously NOT work... So I do the half-assed procrastination method of visiting AO! :P

It's a community, albeit a very large and sometimes indistinct one which changes composition over time. I think it's not the same as a technical forum, where you find answers to questions. But the nice thing is that if nothing else you can get answers on where to find the answers you want. :P

Sort of how there are two kinds of knowledge. Knowing facts, and knowing where to find the facts.

What an interesting question. What is it that keeps me coming back for more. I mean, i have never been the type to post messages on a forum at all. But Antionline is so different from the rest of the internets forums. There really is a level of maturiy that resides here. And I think that is one thing that separates AO from the rest.

Another thing for me, personnally. I have been writing for a long time. When ever I write something I feel needs to be revised, or i may have the facts wrong, I come here. I post it. Then i find myself overwhelmed with different opinions,ideas, and facts i never knew were there. I wanna thank each and every member of Antionline that has ever shared their opinion with me.

I like to think of Antionline as a portal to an opened mind. There is more than security here. there is life, and there is a veiw you have never seen from someone. There is people. THere is a community of open mided people. That is very VERY rare. At every turn I am questioning myself and answering on my opinions. Finding underlying faults in my theory, and rhetoric. Thanks JP, for keeping our minds on their virtual toes.

It means a lot to me to be able to go to forum were you can read for hours at a time...
this site may not be around if it gets sold to the wrong person and if that happens i do not what we are going to do to get information like we have now it is upsetting to know that this site is being sold.....
