I happened to like the idea of the building that consisted of giant metal bars spiraling toward the sky and having a light shine up through them at night to glow the sky. It would remind everyone about 911, 24/7...(also the idea of sam sites like SOIA mentioned wouldn't be a bad plan either)
I also think that they should build a state-of-the-art complex consisting of "rare" buildings with superb architecture...

Now maybe I am wrong here but I believe that I remembering hearing that the world trade center complex had more office space than downtown Atlanta. Even if this is not true the idea is that the WTC brought in a massive amount of revenue to NYC and as a result was a very important part of the city. For that reason such an emphasis has been placed on the amount of commercial space available on the future WTC site. To replace part of what was lost to the NYC economy.

As far as the new designs with larger buildings than the original WTC towers I was all for that from the first day that I saw the towers knocked down. I believe that it would be an excellent statement which would basically be F**k You!!! No one will bully us because if you knock it down we will just rebuild it ten times as well because no one tells us what to do! Asking gets a positive response but creating mass catastrophes creates anger, which results in your destruction and the defeat of your cause. I have believed this since my first memories of terrorism and I believe the logic is very simple, eye for an eye meaning that if I hurt you to get my way then you hurt me back meaning that we both lose. If I ask and you share what you have then we both win.

    That is my little rant.

People are overlooking the fact that, in the normal free
market, you can not get insurance to build such structures
    any more.

The people who lost property and income in the disaster
are looking to their insurance companies to pay claims
that (though legitimate) are almost impossible to pay.

Insurance companies do not want to expose themselves
to this kind of loss in the future, so have refused to sell
policies covering the construction of huge buildings.

    I don't blame them.

Now the government (ever generous) has agreed to insure these stupid and risky projects, using tax money.

The age of skyskrapers is over. The WTC site is a grave.
Homeless people have so little in life, they deserve
    a place to be buried.

The entire site should landscaped as a park,
and dedicated to be a cemetary for future generations
    of poor and homeless people.

It would be a fitting monument to the greatness
of our civilization, eventually becoming a better symbol
of New York City than any stupid office building.
I came in to the world with nothing. I still have most of it.

In the true spirit of a New Yorker, Bigger and Badder is the only way to go. Im all for the biggest damn structure ever. The most disturbing sight is that of lower manhattan where the twin towers used to stand. Now its nothing but a large void.
    Alright take it ease

Two very interesting points, one being that Bigger and Badder to say ***** you to the Terrorists, and the second good point being that the age of skyscrapers is over and we should build a monument. Of course, very good arguments with great supporting facts. The only problem is if it get's knocked down (plan 1) then you said we keep rebuilding it. We can't do that, it's too much money lost and then probably doubled that re-building it. I think the memorial plan is great, but if anyone has any more opinions, I'd love to hear 'em.

If you rebuild it more terrorist have a target, now if it can't be seen it would go along the catigory of ( Out of sight Out of mind). If they don't know its there they we would have more time to think how to get rid of them instead of our economy...
