Take a screen shot?

countless times i have seen posts that include a screenshot. my question is how do you take a screen shot. i have tried someways but none of the work. i always thought you just used printscreen and it saved a file. so either is does save a file and i cant find it, or isnt that the command.

Hey trust not. Simple. Just hit the "print screen" button. Then open up any paint program and paste the image and save it. That works on windows. Or get paint shop pro, it includes a screen capture image. Good luck.

ahh, so i do use print screen, but i didnt know i had to paste it after.. hehe,

Just to add to the fun, if you hit ALT + PRINT SCREEN, you will capture the window in the foreground instead of the whole desktop. The process is the same as explained above once you hit the keys. Just go into paint and paste the image.

Or you can dl Quick Screen Capture, which gives you lots o options and is free. I use that cause you can take pictures of the whole screen, part of the screen, active window only....it's just easier to me. Just check trusty old Download.com.

I've used SnagIt in the past - it's a nifty little screen capture utility with a good numbers of options, and you can be very selective when choosing what to capture... You can capture toolbars, windows, full-screens, etc. It's a shareware program with a trial expiration period - if you need to do a lot of screen capturing, it's a nice program..
