getting to the top 100 will be difiicult. we are heavily competing with some pretty heavy hitters. although, we made it this far with 28 members (now 31 thanks!!!) so i have faith that we can make a name for ourselves soon.

THE IMPORTANT PART: if university gets it before business, the info will not be patented and will be open for all. (open source proteins for all. lol) who knows what the medical companies will charge for a cure that uses a protein they patented...
in the battle of money vs. morality, money usually wins.

perhaps our new owners can throw in some processor time? wink wink

    FAQ re multiple processors
    http://folding.stanford.edu/faq.html#run.dual

Does Folding@home run on dual processor machines?

Yes, you can. Additional processors must run the console version (with the "-local" command-line argument if run on Windows). First, make additional directories for each processor and copy the FAH3Console executable file into each. Then configure them with the -config switch, filling in settings for each. It is very important to make sure that under the "Advanced Settings" option each copy is given a unique machine ID (from 1 to 4). The first copy will default to a machine ID of 1, so additional copies should be given IDs of 2, 3 and 4. Each may then be run out of their installed directory, using the -local switch on windows. Instances should be attached to different processors, using whatever mechanism your OS provides for this purpose (e.g. Task Manager on Windows).

We have been working on a multiple processor version with parallelized code using OpenMP. However, we have discovered that OpenMP parallelized code does not scale very well at all with processor number with our code. So we are investigating other options for parallelization, and a final date for a parallelized version is uncertain at this time.

    Nice FAH Stats Page

Not sure if any of you have seen this yet, but it's a pretty cool stats page that will get you more interesting stats in a faster time than the stats on the FAH page.

    My Folding Tracking

Well, I just started this (graph) 2 days ago. I've been folding for quite a while now. I'm going to check progress of the top 100 + AO. I have it in an Excel file, and graphed it. Attached is a bar graph of progress. The little yellow bar at the top is AO. The other bars are for the top 100. If we want to catch up, we will have to work hard. I'm planning on doing this for about a month to get an idea of when we will catch up to the top 100.

BUT... bluebeard just posted a link to something just as helpful. I'm just having a difficult time working in their applet, but it is good helpful information...

BTW, shouldn't we start a Conference Room? Well, maybe not... It is good to let everyone know that we are making progress!
