Linux Help
I've recently installed RH Linux 7.3 on my computer to try to learn how to use it. However I clicked logout and it took me to a command prompt. I know that to get back to the GUI you have to type startx, but that brings me back to the Gnome GUI. I would like to get back to the KDE desktop but have no Idea how to since I am New to Linux.
Any help woud be great

startx kde should work... in Suse, just kde even works. Not sure for RH 7.3
Here's something that could help you.

get switchdesk
http://rpmfind.net/linux/RPM/redhat/....8-2.i386.html
it may already be installed by default, look through all your menu options in gnome, I know for sure that it is installed by default in the redhat advanced server 2.1 default install including X. Which is more like 7.3 in terms of the installer, than it is like 8

I'll give that a try then. Thanks. One more question.
In MS-DOS to change to directorys you would type cd windows. How do you change directories in Linux?

I would recommend you stay in GUI mode untill you get used to linux, then venture off.

I never actually meant to get to a text prompt master. I clicked the logoff button then it brought me to a text screen with a command prompt. It never did that before. Believe me I don't plan to venture till I know what the hell I'm doing in the GUI. LOL.. I'm sure once I know how do use it it will be as easy as windows.
