You choose "create cd from image file."

when I select "create cd from image file" and choose the file it tells me that the entered block size does not correspond with the image length. And it wants to know if I want to correct it. Should I do this or not? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to be sure I do it right.
    Thanks.

what burning software are you trying to use?

I use nero personally and to make a knoppix disk i have to start nero, then cancel the wizards, then from the file menu you select burn image (I believe).. then select your knoppix iso, and hit the burn or write button then sit and relax. when it's done, you should beable to browse the cd and see various folders.

with the cd made, you need to set your boot order in your bios to put the cdrom before the hdd.. with that done you should be booting off it in no time.

create a startup disk from the add/remove programs and use it to boot and select the option "1" so that your cd roms can be accessed from dos.
then, change the settings in bios,
in the bios we have an option to select the first booting device, second booting device and third booting device, so you select the cd- rom to be the first booting device and select hard disk to be second booting device and floppy to be the third booting device.

I think you can achive wtthe thing you wannt, your system searches for cd-rom to boot from first, if not found then checks hard disk and boots in

for the case I told earlier, that is making startup disk, and continued, for that case, kep floppe as ther first booting device and cd-rom as the third booting device and leave hard disk(generally if you have single hard disk it is HDD-0) as second booting device

Thanks all. I redownloaded knoppix and it ran fine except for not having enough ram for the kde desktop. Thank you everyone for you input. I couldn't have done this without you.

you should use the create cd from image file then it may or may not ask for what type of image file
if as you said its an iso use the option that most likely says something like windows ISO format

if you are useing easy cd creator and i think a few others after the cd is almost complete
it will ask you if you want to make the cd bootable you do
