Look I'm not going to feel bad about what happened to MY ancestors on the trail of tears, it was sad but that was then and this is now. bballad, just start chanting 400 years of oppression, maybe you get some of the "slave money" that people keep sueing the U.S. to get, eh?
Grow up, no gov't is perfect and yeah the U.S has made terrible mistakes, so hasn't everyone. It's quite easy with 20/20 hindsight to make these comments but at the time who knew? Nobody. Just be glad we're finally doing the right thing.
Anyway, I'm done.
I wasn't trying to say that the US was all evil or that every thing we have done was wrong. I am not into blindly bashing my country and will defend it when unduly criticized (see my discussion with ghost dog) but I don't like miss information being spread, my comment about the trail of tears area was not a oh boo hoo look at what happened to the poor natives (it was a war of conquest, that s fine, they had the land through a war of conquest in the first place)
I was just setting the record strait on the US starting wars...This is something that we have done in the past and will continue to do, and except with a few notable acceptations (Korea, Vietnam, Somalia) I am confident that we will usually win.
I am just trying to combat ignorance and blind patriotism/nationalism a little. I understand that we make mistakes.. that’s not the issue, its the later denial of any past mistakes that I have issues with.
Its like those damm "These colors never run" bumper stickers...I can name many battles and wars that we "ran like little girl" from, most of the time these retreats where the best thing to do forcing an idea of never surrender never retreat is dumb and shortsighted. Luckily while this idea may be very prevalent in the masses, its nonexistent in the military (or at least the commanders)

Bballad, on number 1. and number 4. sorry about getting them wrong, but when I typed in the names of the war on google those are the first ones that came up. On # 1,2,3,4 though we're going to have to agree to disagree because I still think that the U.S. wasn't sticking it's nose in on those wars. On # 5. I guess you make a case for that starting a war, but I thought that since the U.S. had a campaign going to get rid of communism all over the world that it was justified for them to go into Cambodia, along with Vietnam and Korea. I know that it ended up failing and many more deaths were caused than needed, but what's done is done. If I could go back in time I wouldn't support the wars since I would know what the outcome would be. On number 6. I know that we ended up not finding Osama and the rest of the terrorist's but the point of us going in there was to find him and so I stand by what I say that the U.S. had good intentions going into there to start with.
Yes, I agree with you, my school does suck, partially as you said for the lacking of teaching history along with other subjects as well. A lot of what I know about history and everything that I told you in my last post was self-taught from the internet, so if you see something incorrect then feel free to correct me, but as for you trying to show that I can't spell just because of my sn is retarded.
Sorry wasn’t trying to show that you couldn’t spell...I am dyslexic and didn't catch that letter transposition
I wasn't arguing if they where justified wars or not, just that we do indeed start wars.
IMHO we didn't do enough in Cambodia, and unfortunately because of Vietnam we had to pull out before we did any good there. Luckily the NVA went in and cleaned up the area after we left. If you want to see true evil look no further then the camear rouge (sp?). Watch “The Killing Fields” to get an idea of what I am talking about and be prepared to be disturbed.
