Ok were these indeed tojans or viruses? And what were the names of them? You may very well be dealing with the aftermath of a virus that has corrupted many of your files. What operating system are you using? I know in XP you can run the recovery console with your reinstallation cd. You may also want to do a system restore.

Hmm, i've had a problem exactly like this before. I believe i had to go into safe mode and change it to a higher resolution because it was incredibly low and a single icon took up about 1/5 of the page.
I think this is what i had to do, hope it helps.

Let's just hope that while you had those trojan's on your system that some lamer script kiddie didnt get access to your files and corrupt some of them.

What version of windows are you using mate? I had a similar problem with windows xp when my WMI tools got corrupt...
