Overall I think it is a good thing because afterall we all have a reason for doing something no matter what it is.Whether it be pos or neg, I think giving a reason is not asking a lot.This will definitly tell you whether your post was meaningfull or not

At the first i joined AO, i didn't care i will be junior, member, or senior member, and i didn't care i will get positive and negative points. I just loved to read the threads and i could add my knowledge .. no advantage for my financial here ... but since someone gave me neg points with no reason and it made me in red zone , i really wondered, why this ****in person did that ? what coz that ? but till now i really do not care i will get positive or negative .. even i know i will be banned when i saying this. But basically i do agree with networker idea.. it is great to know who gave us neg.

Plain and simple, the AP system was put into place to stop those people who like posting stuff like "How to Defeat Cybersitter" or "How do get an Admin Password, I lost it?" Quit frankly opinions will always vary. There will always be somebody who doesn't agree with you 100%. If you feel guilty for some AP's you handed out, then perhaps you shouldn't of given them out. Reward good work, and police those that seem to get out of line. Other than that, what is the point of bitching about something you don't really control. If you are really that bothered by it, then leave. Other wise have a coke and a smile and shut the phuq up!

May I add that negging won't stop because otherwise you'll very soon get that ranting message about your AP-assignments not being in balance and how they stop counting if you don't neg somebody.

About AP's in some forums like Cosmos and Jokes... People shouldn't earn AntiPoints in those but they should be punishable if they post some meaningless s**t. So my idea is to make positives not count in them but negatives to do count. Positives could only bring the post AP meter back to middle if someone wrongly negged it and some other person wanted to correct it. What do you think?

Do you see where the two parts of your post are going to be a problem? Having to even your points, and having a forum where you can only give negs...I see a bit of a potential problem here. What it's going to amount to is posting suicide to post in Cosmos or Jokes or GCC or wherever they implement this idea, at least IMO. Also, there is something distinctly unfair in giving people the chance to *only* earn negs in certain forums. If you're going to take away the chance to give greenies, negs need to be cut out too. However...I know that I have given out negs for Jokes before...you can call me uptight or whatever (people who know me well will tell you the opposite ) but there are jokes in there that DO NOT belong on a forum of people of all ethnic make ups, both sexes, and also a place that people read at work. How many of us have seen posts in the joke forum that run something along the lines of "#%@#$%@#$% Why the hell didn't you warn me not to open this at work!?" And how many of us have seen blatantly racist jokes? And how many of us remember the infamous chick blowing a bubble pic that some moron posted like 3 different times cause it kept going suicidal? These things need to be able to be negged, but you can't give someone the opportunity to neg, and not the opportunity to give greenies too.

i don't like it cause there are too many people in this world that will go seek revenge even though they are getting the points they deserve. it could potentially stop abuse, but i think that the type of people who will go for revenge are not going to take the time to think that if they shoot for revenge that person may go back after them...

edit: someone just "revenged" me for a point assignment... ah system abuse at its best

It's great... Now we have to give negs that are meaningful and a statement as to why we think that the thread needed to be neg. Now we can all be fair cause we might get neg for negging for no reason.

Way to go... Now we can all make a lot more reasonable threads... Looking forward to a lot more mind hurting threads....
