Script Kiddies

As I see it, script kiddies are people who don't want to bother themselves with doing some readings or research, although they might have some knowledge about various stuff here and there...
They tend to use pre-made software and tools...
They tend to think they are the best and try to impress their friends with some acts likes hacking into some website... or maybe using a trojan horse on some of their friends to scare them out...

IMO script kiddies are people with a general knowedge of networking, and computers, most i believe are there just to say OH Ima hacker. and to show off how 1337 they think they are. they have no ethic or will to learn, and they use other peoples tools because they dont have the knowlede to make there own. they are usually the ones who give hacers a bad name and are the ones who get caught most oten.

Yes , people now i have a great understanding of what a script kiddie is. And The|Specialist , I do have UNIX in a nutshell , it is an excellent book. Thanks Guys , but if other people want to keep responding to this thread , that's fine too.

IMO script kiddies are kids who don't know how to wipe their butts right yet.They may have some knowedge if any of networking and computers. Try to impressed their friends in to believing they are cool.

I belive that we have all been scripts kiddies at one point. It's simply somebody whom is at a stage where they see themself as being better than the best, but they however have little or no knowledge over how its all done.
From what I've experienced I would say that very few script kiddies actually know UNIX. And the ones that do, have very very little clue about what they actually know.

They get bored using canned tools and move on and eventually become a real hacker. I personally feel that ppl in their teens try things and actually learn a lot from it...so every hacker was a script kiddie at some part of their life.

I completely disagree with NullDevice, I think that a person just starting out would have the same label as a new user here: newbie. IMHO, a script kiddie has no desire to understand why computers, networks, applications, scripts, etc work, they only care that they do. I also believe that malicious intent is not a prerequisite to being a script kiddie. There are many script kiddies who believe (by some misconception) they are real hackers because they can access someone else's computer regardless of the fact they ran some pre-compiled executable dowloaded from the Internet. In this way they are similar to most Windows users who believe they are masters of their computer because they can install and run windows with office and the rest. Just because you can point and click your way through your OS does not a master make. Just my 2 cents.

ScriptKiddie Stereotype In a Nut Shell...

Threatens to hack everyone in a 3d online game, and says things like. "Oh yeah, I already have your ip address and I am going to hack you" Duh, I connected to this server didn't I? Of course you can get my IP. Then goes on to say that your "ping" has nothing to do with game response times... but he can crack your computer and crash you any second now.

eheh nice post guys i love this descusions about this stuff but i dono it seems some time people can be wrong once back back i was a script kiddy and lol yah it was to impres people friends etc make fun of people but ya as someone said that got old so i moved up and now am gona go for computer enginiering because i got interests for that ehehe so it doesnot mean that every kiddy will be lame an stay lame for ever right ? eheh dont flame me now its just true ehehe
