And maybe you better check out the owners of attrition a little bit before you start referencing them as good sources of information. That street runs two ways.
First the guys of attrition...at least they are honest about who they are as opposed to JP...court papers don't lie JP.

As for the list. here it is (this doesn’t include the accounts that seem to have been setup just for this thread.) Oh and some did sign up in early 2002 as opposed to 2001. What’s the connection, well none of them post much anymore (some where set away) but they all show up just in time for this thread...curious...at the same time one makes a suggestion to JP to set up a competing sight...interesting...then he seems to have done just that....makes you wonder (or perhaps not you as you seem to be hinting at just that).

I guess JP misses being ruler of his little kingdom and wants to start it up again. I for one will not miss any of these people as they have contributed nothing that I have seen...oh and DEB you can be included in that list as all I have seen from you is whining about ap's

at the same time one makes a suggestion to JP to set up a competing sight...interesting...then he seems to have done just that..
you know its amazing... if JP sets up a competing site, he will lose all his money from this site... He had to sign a no-compete agreement. His new site is NOT a security site. It can't be. He can't legally make one. Therefore its not a competing site.

As for deb and albn, maybe you should look around the site a little bit more, cause you don't know what you are talking about.

Oh yeah, and MicroBurn... him and JP don't even get along because JP thinks he is a whiney little punk.

Dome... well, he always has his head up the arse of anyone who he thinks can make him popular. Thats just the way he is.

The rest.. your right, they don't post as much. But that is because the site is full of stupid posts talking about useless crap. They all (myself included) still look at the site on occassion, but it just doesn't seem worth using that much any more. I am not saying this is because of jupiter, it has been going downhill for the last year. Maybe if you had been around for more then 4 months, you would realize this.

As for attrition... you gotta love seeing 1 side of the story and making that "gospel" I won't say that either side was right, but both sides only gave their own side of the story.

bballad: I sincerely hope you are posting for humour. The guys at attrition are honest? BS! As for the members you mentioned, when I became a member most of them were still posting. albn, MB, Syini, The3ntropy and a few others on that list still post. At least 75% of those names are still active members of the community, and the ones that don't post, how do you know they aren't lurking and reading... looking for something of interest to read? I seriously think before you type because you seem to have no clue what's going on.

Well folks, papa hogfly has arrived. I have not posted in a while, I'm not even sure who is paying attention to this anymore but here goes...

    bballad:
I will try to remain as uninsulting as I can, but do yourself a favor, Shut the **** up. The reason all of those people are registered from 2001, is because JP redid the site at that point in time. Everyone had to re register. Some people, myself included have been around a lot
longer than that and saw this site go from nothing to something great, and now it is on its way back to nothing. You, having not been around so long would have no idea about this, so excuse us for having a little more invested in this site than others. I would imagine that most of them are feeling a bit betrayed at this point and want to express that.

    JP:
ahh my dear JP, I can understand your anger at not getting paid, especially over something as trivial as documentation and banner impressions. Perhaps the term 'proper documentation' should have been fleshed out a little more. Again...a trivial matter. You want the money and want to be rid of site.. work out the documentation bit, get paid and wash your hands.
I happen to agree with the fact that this should not be on the forums, it has no business here. It is between you/jupman and jupitermedia. Not the members of your OLD forum. Especially since no one here but the two of you knows the facts behind it all. It leaves everything open to interpretation, with no basis.

    Jupman:
Where to begin.. If you are even reading this.. I for one feel a bit lied to. Hell Gus, we even spoke about this before you went ahead and purchased the site. Do you remember that conversation ? The chat about JP's enemies...the community, the future of antionline et al.
First about the payment issue. Documentation...are you kidding me ? Can it really be that complex that a team of people can't understand the code ? One of the fundamental concepts of programming is being able to read the code and estimate the output. Don't you have a test bed where you can play with the code before a go-live so nothing gets screwed up ? Don't know where to add the banners in ? try it in your test bed... fundamental IT development and project management...c'mon , get real. Anyways, enough about that..
It seems to me, that you are still in that phase of the purchase where you don't want to dump an ounce of energy in to the site, because you are waiting on something. Whether it's the integrity of the community, the amount of $$$ you see from banners or what..I have no idea. What you seem to be missing ( this from an outside view of course ) is that if you stop running this site like an owner, and more like a member, you may be better off. You said you saw a strong community when you were previewing the site. I told you not to take too much away from people, or else they would get pissed off. A community needs member leaders, not corporate tyrants who are in it for money. I know you bought the site for the simple reason of money...you are a corporation...why else would you do something ? I am imploring you to change your mind set about this place. Stop waiting for that something to happen, and make a positive impact on this site.
You have taken and taken and taken from the members here and what have you given ? Poor decision making on your part has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I do understand your motivations for doing what you have done, afterall you need to make money in order to keep this free.
A lot, and I do mean a lot of people have fled this site, for various reasons.. but people do come and go..so not to worry.
Personal note: I stopped posting due to your lack of respect for the people here (self imposed, non-member moderators on a security site that don't know security).

    Finally, to the members:
As far as I can tell, the site began its decline about the time the new antipoint scale was put in to place. Jupiter media is not totally at fault. Look at how much animosity they have caused here...Members bitching at others, childish alliances...and for what ? a green or red square on the internet from people you will most likely never meet ? blah blah enough about those.
For a lot of people the damage has been done, and they have left, or are leaving... To the rest of you. Look around the site..where has the security gone ? To me this place looks like an empty shell of a security site that is filled with general tech support questions. anyways...enjoy.

Jupman: I'd be willing to chat again..if you need my #, PM me.

bballad >> did you ever stop to think (prolly a dumb question) that some of those people you named are simply lurkers?? so yes they may have registered a while ago but is not a case of leaving AO and being brought back just for this thread....perhaps they have always been here but just dont post alot, instead prefering to read the posts

I know its that way for alot of members here.......heh they could even have signed up just for the files/txts and rarely come into the actual forums - there is even evidence to suggest this in your own post

these members have been registered for almost 2yrs each and yet havn't even reached member status(!?) does that suggect to you that they are or ever have been what you refer to as active members??

this isn't just a forum site - and just because you choose not to post except every once in a while does not mean you aint here
