Deleting IE

I switched to Mozilla a while ago and since then, when i click on links, IE opens instead of Mozilla. Plus, even if i use IE once while i am online, i get a bunch of annoying pop ups. Anyways, how can i permenantly delete IE from my computer running XP?

If I am not wrong, its not possible to delete IE from XP as its now part of the OS. You could still install Mozilla and use it as your default browser.

IE can be unistall from a Windows XP pro just go to add or remove programs and them click in Add /Remove Windows componets and there you will find it there.

This only removes the short-cuts, not the application.

Yes, you are correct. IE is integrated into the OS. IE shares many system components and it is impossible to remove.

Mozilla is a great choice. It has built-in pop up blocking capabilities among other nice features.

If you go to Tools/Folder Options (when you are in a folder), you should see a File Types tab. This allows you to override what program is associated with each file. For web-browsing you want to look at HTM and HTML files. Once you click on a specific file type, you can click Change to get a list of program to associate that file with. the horse13 is right ... for removing other hidden files from add/remove windows components go to :/windows/inf (Show hidden files and folders must be enabled to see the inf folder ) .... i the inf folder open sysoc.inf and remove the "hide," anywhere you see it ... or from the program you want to remove and go back to add.remove windows components...and the hidden programs will be listed ... such as windows messanger ....

Algaen more help would be greatly appriciated. i dont really care for deleting shortcuts to IE, i want to delete the whole thing, but i guess that is impossible. Well a warm thanks goes out to Microsoft for screwing those who want to delete a simple browser

What I told you will just repoint all your files to use Mozilla or what ever browser you choose. As everyone else told you, there is no way to delete IE. It is a part of Windows. To see this for yourself, open up Window File Explorer. In the menu bar at the top, type www.antionline.com, and it will take you to this page. The best you can do is repoint your shortcuts, and delete the IE icons and "hide" it. Good luck dude!

To change your default browser to Mozilla:

In Mozilla: Go to Edit - Preferences
In the upper right corner of the page will be a button that says "Set Default Browser"
Click that and the links should open up in Mozilla.

alright thanks guys, i had already set mozilla as my default browser. Ill delete the shortcuts for IE
