okie...Clarkconnect comes with Squid web proxy...
i haven't tried but i have to.
the question is how does it work with ftp or https,
irc or these filesharing tools.
this could be a problem 'cos downloading e.g. digitally copied music and other stuff
is a crime since some weeks now in germany.
so i have to care 'bout his actions.
i will be back later to post what'd happen

hehehe... try and read the manual... again the important stuff is on what ports will you allow the CONNECT method (i think for ftp and https is the only way unless for ftp your friend has a client that supports http cache proxy), so with a good configuration file for squid it will be just fine...
