Since Mr. ImbibedParasite brought up a dead thread, thought I'd drop a few words in:

Whats wrong with Norton's fine line of products, especially their firewall..? If the user isn't a complete incompetent jackass then the firewall works perfectly.. he probably had it set to allow all incoming connections and what not... don't blame Norton for his stupidity....

Actually, I recently had to troubleshoot a computer with Norton's Firewall. When I went to disable the option that prevents pop-up windows, Norton's didn't seem to recognize the change. I had to reboot the machine each time I changed an option. IMHO, that's not a good firewall.

Based on my experiences with it thus far.. it doesn't rate that good.

I've used it and had no problems.. what kind of system were you running it on and what version of it? And for restarting the system after implementing that change was unnecessary, you just have to restart Norton... atleast thats what worked for me.

What version were you playing with MsM, I am testing 5.1 right now and I got to tell you, I am fairly impressed. I believe thay have come a long way since their earlier versions.

I'd have to check. Not sure which version it was or how ...errrhmm... "legit" it was (which might also be the problem). My first suggestion was buy legit so there's no problem with updating (since the user kept telling me not to update).

Check your antivirus (Norton I presume) for excusion in the options menu... if someone had physical asscess they could so easily install a trojan/keylog any drop it into the exclusion list so that norton would never bother telling you about it.
