Internet Quetion
a while ago am surfing the net in our library and i encountered some problem on the pages am going to visit. I type the website address on the address bar and after i hit the enter button, it goes to our school website so a try again thinking that i have some error but it still it happen so i change the level and some internet option so i can get to that site but alasss the same, theres no error message that ive encounter am just wondering if our server filter all those site that ve visit ive tried other site such us google, yahoo AO etc.. and im able to visit those link mention.. maybe you can help me .... how is that possible our library is runnung on win NT... hope you can help me ive try to look for an answer but i can find the right answer

if you typed those sites blocked by your firewall, your proxy sends you back to your homepage.Speak to your sys admin guy to get it unblocked.

Dr_Evil's right...with Windows NT, you're most likely getting kicked back to the school homepage by the ISA Proxy server.

Assuming they are using ISA. They could just as easily be using MS Proxy or Novell's Bordermanager or some other firewall product that has some type of filtering like CyberCop. Has there been any thought that perhaps the host file was possibly altered? What sites were you trying to visit? (usually the site itself will be a hint as to what activity was going on) 2600.com? porn site? a site with "xxx" in it's url (Oracle uses this in their Knowledge base)

Though i am not very sure i think u make sure the lmhosts file in the win folder has not been tamperd with

the hosts file dosnt affect ip addresses. try typing in a dotted ip addy like 216.239.37.99
