I could be wrong about this, but it has always appeared to me that IE is very tightly integrated into the
Windows shell. If it is not, then there must be some other good explanation for why it often takes Windows
with it when it decides to bomb. I think it's interesting that they have pulled the plug on their Solaris and Mac
versions of IE, wonder what prompted that.

Explorer IS the default Windows shell. Although there are other shells out there, You really need explorer to handle some things. I don't think that Linux 98 is an issue though, the open-source community is far to smart to allow that kind of virus to propagate through our world. (Besides, we need to be worrying about Linux XP...LOL)
Real security doesn't come with an installer.
