how can u lock files (not hiding) in a FAT system?

1. The Alt+255 trick works on Win9x but not on NT based OS's (much like the \con\con exploit)
2. I'm writing a program for a client that does something similar. If you can wait for something like a month and a half, I *might* put up a modified version of it here (with source of course).

Well since no one mentioned its not only alt+'255' it could also be ant other combination with alt pressed to give a space.255 being the only one known becomes easy to crack.So for those really bent upon hiding change the number.
Also can someone tell me how to rename the folder without knoing the code.I know that such a trick does exist .

encryption is a good idea but like what was already said, it does bring about curious eyes. something that has always worked good for me is not only encrypting it but opening it in notepad or something similar and then saving it as a differant extension. For example, you could always find where a few msi's are grouped or a differant file depending on the size and hide yours in there with them. If you need to u can zip multiple files and change the zip to look like something else. also remember that u can encrypt into pictures and other things as well.

I just knew that method has worked for me in the past and figured I'd share it with everyone else.
As far as posting to old posts I didn't even think about it but I personally don't see a problem with it but I guess its up to everyone else. I could always start a new thread about the same subject I suppose but I don't see any sense in that.
