I use Slackware too. SuSE is of course the best, but Slackware is a good second. Gentoo is a BSD rip off. Now, CG, why do you have a Redhat Avater? Or is it a joke to mean white hat because it's white?

It's a joke to mean white hat. LOL. I don't think slack has a logo. Otherwise I'd have changed it. Also, I was a hard-code RedHat supporter when I joined this site. I was using RedHat until the dreaded 8.0 release at which point I tried a bunch of distros and finally settled on slack.
Cheers,

Geez. How much I'd like to answer to a new distro war, I'm not giving in to it anymore.
Point is my favorite is Gentoo, altho I like slack and freebsd too,
CG's fav is Slackware, and well Gore ?
I still don't know for sure.
One point tho.
Obviously you never worked thoroughly with Gentoo ...

You will, and you will like it.

=O REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?!?
altho I like slack and freebsd too
Mix them together and you have Gentoo.
OK, for the other Gentoo using people, name ONE feature of Gentoo that they came up with. Just one. Portage? Nope, Free BSD. One command to update? Ahem, "Make World" BSD invented that too.
Wait! I got it! They are the only ones to ever come up with an install that takes more than a day to complete! OK, so they came up with ONE idea they didn't take from anyone. Then again, no other OS really had a goal of bringing someone's machine down for over a day for the initial install. Debian and gentoo are also the only two Linux distros I know of that both got hacked.
Debian didn't shock me, they don't even update software for the version of Linux they make, why update the servers right?

I say "SuSE is of course the best, with Slackware as my second fav, and you're not sure? Gentoo has rotted you. Next thing you know, you'll be doing prostitution and selling your green body to support the gentoo people, who obviously need it if they have time to sit around for a day and a half watching something install.
Hell, you could compile DOS on a something earlier than an x86.
You're going to admit to everyone that you yourself were a supporter of SuSE untill the Gentoo boys grabbed you by the balls and made you think a machine being down all day installing was acceptable?
Obviously you never worked thoroughly with Gentoo ...
You're right, I left it on about as long as I left Windows server 2003 on. 2 days. I installed Free BSD to try and find a difference. I found two:
Different Kernel
Free BSD does not in fact take over a day to install.
That was about it. Well, that and how the initial screen was taken from SuSE Linux. Hell even gentoo knows SuSE is the best. Now, are you going to try and tell me one distro of Linux is different from another other than the way they install, and the way they update ?
Gentoo in run level 3 looks exactly like SuSE, RedHat, Slackware, Debian, Libranet...You get my point. It's the same thing, just SuSE comes with a **** load more.
