also give us a list of whats running in your processes would like to see what you have running in the background. I wanted you to run cwshredder to see if it was a hijacker you can also get a different adware remover and see if this works.
if its not a hijacker issue if the file was corrupt then you would need to manually remove the file and the registry entries.

The shredder is an awesome tool, granted, but it only fixes CWS hijackings....They are not that common, maybe 25-35% of the logs I examine. And the newer strains of CWS don't care if you run the shredder or not..they will still come back, and often times running it in the wrong instance masks the problem, and it will just re-occur again. I've just had a few particularly tough lessons on that. Thankfully some people that knew more than I were able to bail my happy a** out.
With all due respect, you're playing horseshoes with hand-grenades.
EDIT: And back to the original topic, IE used to do that to me a long time ago...I never did figure out why. I think I ended up switching to a different browser...so I'm not much help there, am I

Spybot
Hi,
A while ago, thanks to my wife surfing, I had some trouble with IE and it opening other windows going to crap sites. I fixed it by downloading Spybot. It's pretty good at detecting all kinds of spyware and also provides for blocking of new tracking and spyware stuff, either automatically, or by asking you what to do.
Take a look at it if you're interested. I think you can get it from download.com
Cheers,

just to follow up on my previous post here, i was experimenting with internet explorer last night and alternate download names, and every time something got done that was large enough to require the moving screen, it always had a temporary name of something over 8 characters...
furthermore, i looked at the error again and that is where windows moves the files to AFTER the temporary name is changed to the real one and the user has selected "open" rather than "save"

According to the blurb, It's an advanced Trojan and Bot remover.
there is a FREE 30 day version, try it, you may like it.
I use it in conjunction with:
AdAware
Spy Bot S+D
CWShredder
Registery Mechanic
Lets just say that once bitten, twice shy. But in my case, my sys got compromised THREE times in as many months. I got the link from here, I believe it was from Moxnix, tried the freebie, paid for the pro version. am a VERY happy bunny with my new toys.
