Kerio, good choice.
I am sure you will like the Security a little more
AngelicKnight, it is somewhat more complicated than Sygate, but in the long run, it was a better choice than most.

Hmm...well, now Kerio's giving me the same problem. I added www.antionline.com and set everything to allow but popups, and I still can't post without completely disabling the firewall. Is there something I'm missing?

Is there something to do with your IE settings eg cookies? Tools->internet options->privacy setting. I am just thinking it might not be the firewall since you have tried 2 different firewalls and both give you the same problem. I am personally using Kerio and had used sygate on antoher system and both never had any of the problems you mentioned.

Yeah, you are messing something up if you can't use Kerio, I installed SP2, same as you, and uninstalled ZA to replace it with Kerio....I've had no problems. I wish I could give you more advice, but Kerio just worked...check the proxy settings...kerio's interface is a little different, maybe you don't have it set up correctly, the whole internet/server thing on ZA is replaced by the trusted/internet thing on kerio...try a different browser? I dunno, but good luck, my set up may be different b/c I clean installed XP again before I downloaded the beta service pack...and then realized ZA wouldn't work anymore....I didn't have to manually uninstall ZA, either, I went through the proggie removal in XP, installed kerio and it worked.....either way, good luck, if you figure it out, it'd be nice to know whether the problem was ZA or user error... cause it seems like ZA likes to leave some of it's stuff behind, and while it isn't hard to find the reg keys....it's still a pain...

Hmm, interesting...It's definately not a browser thing, because everything works fine once the firewall's disabled. Reenable firewall, problem resumes. Pretty wierd. Well if anyone else has some ideas, please throw 'em out, but in the meantime I'll keep piddling and report back whatever results I get.

Angelic, you might want to try ditching kerio or whatever you're running at the moment and reinstalling Sygate Pro -unless you had the free one? If you want reinstall it and go with my earlier recommendation here:
Open up Sygate. Go to "Tools" then select "Options". From there... go to "Security". Uncheck 'Enable stealth mode browsing' and uncheck 'Enable driver level protection' if you have those checked. See if that doesn't make a difference. I know when I set it up on XP Pro I had to disable both of those or I wasn't allowed to surf through my browser at all.
If this doesn't get it working then I have a couple other ideas on what you could try.

Cool, I'll give it a try when I get home tonight and report back with the results.

if you haven't yet done it...I would suggest going through the site I mentioned earlier in this thread on removing ZA, like I said, ZA likes to leave stuff behind and running, it depends on how you uninstalled it....did you disable start up and shut down ZA before you unistalled? If not, it really could be this, and more than likely, no matter what s/w firewall you try to install next will run into connection problems...

I finally figured out what was causing my problems.
Intrustions --> Low Priority Intrusions --> Deny
I had to change that to permit, and keep high and medium at deny, and now it works.
