which was better the Turkish or the Greek Baklava?
Albanian Baklava is 100% better. 
I can get u my mother's recipe...they're pretty easy to make.

That is the difference Tiger, Baklava in Turkey is not as sweet as Greek Baklava. Still sweet though, need a good bit of Coffee to offset it but not nearly. Plus you can get a box for about 50 cents. Never had any from Albania! Wonder if I can mail order some?

The key difference i believe is: Greeks use honey to make it sweet. Turks and Albanians use a syryp made of water and sugar (heated). They're both very sweet, but too sweet is not good. It also depends on whoever is baking it...and how much sugar they add. I know my mom's recipe is famous....she bakes like 5-6 big ones for xmass for my uncles and aunts...and for family friends . My gf's cousin {portuguese} makes it, but she uses honey and cuts em in tiny pieces...bite size baklava sucks. I like the diamond shaped ones...which are also much bigger. Seriusly speaking...you think it could be mailed? I could open a business lol. I dont thikn mailing pastries is a good Idea.
Let me know...or at least i could get ya the recipe.

Yes that is true they use honey in Greece, plus the Turks have tonnes of Pistachios. This old lady sold some outside my apartment chocked full, I mean full of Pistachios. I think the quality of food should get them the EU bid on it's own.

U sure it was pistachios?? Baklava is supposed to be made with walnuts or at least the greeks, turks and albanians I know make it with walnuts. Prolly the lady was trying something different.

Nope I had pistachios everywhere. At least inside Turkey it is made with pistachios. Most of the time they are still green.

interesting...i'll have to try that. Well in Albania we use walnuts . The greeks use walnuts as well i believe...
