I rarely get pissed
No, I was going to say that first off: I didn't ban him. And secondly: you even seem to have forgotten that you got more than one warning, that you were given more than one chance to change your posting behaviour. How would anyone expect you to know what you're talking about when you're referring to someone else's banning when you forgot about what happened to yourself?
And there's a huge difference between Deb and MsM's signature and what some other members came up with. People try pushing the line sometimes, and that's fine. But don't go whining when that line turns in to a big stick and smacks you. And that's exactly what you've been doing since the day you got banned.
Back on topic:
Either we let anything slip, let AO turn into a MA-rated website, and loose a bunch of contributing members.
Or we set some guidelines, and loose a bunch of bored teenagers who only care about pushing the lines.
Pretty clear, no?

Yes, MsMittens and I both had cursing in our signatures. What we didn't have was something that could be considered sexually offensive. That is the difference. I'm so sick of hearing The|Specialist cry about it I could throw up. If you have no judgement on certain issues, the fault is yours, not other peoples. It shouldn't be that hard to figure out the line, it's common sense. When faced with the decision between 'innocent' cursing and something that is going to be sexually or racially offensive, it shouldn't be that hard for adults to make the distinction.
What alarms me here is the fact that Swordfish, who if I recall is 13, is able to understand this distinction when so-called adults can't.
Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Yes, 13 going on 36..........what we call "a wise head on young shoulders"
I can handle most stuff, but I do consider that being here is something of an honour, so I accept that I should conduct myself accordingly.
I am not "preaching"..................just my opinion

i would like to have a feature to Hide avatars and Signatures like allenb1963 said....
Would this be possible? That way, it would still be up to each member whether they want see them or not. I could still navigate this site and know enough about the poster without avatars.
Just my .02 worth

I agree. While i like porn ( won't hide that ) It is definately not everybodys cup of tea and while i have no problem with swearing, rude comments etc that does not mean that everyone is the same way and that they should have to put up with it, especially when they may have kids sitting at the computer with them. Or if they are indeed a child themselves.
There should be guidelines and they should be enforced. This is a community, if you walked around naked outside (in most places) you would get done for indecent exposure. It should be the same in this community

I was thinking about the difficulty of adding a setting for users so avatars/sigs wouldn't be displayed, and it's certainly possible.
One thing that needs to be clear is that the addition of such a setting wouldn't negate AO's standards of acceptible content -- avatars/sigs which are deemed offensive would still be removed. I can already see users complaining that their avatar shouldn't be removed by the mods because users can choose not to display them if they don't want to.
