slackware 10.0 error
i just switched from fedora to slackware and i love it.....but i cant install anything
when i run ./configure on anything i get this error message
checking wether build enviornment is sane... Configure: error: newly created file is older then distrobuted files
check your system clock
i reinstalled sane and i get the same thing....and i have no idea what it means about system clock
any info would be greatly appriciated....thnaks

Try typing date and see if the time is "ahead" (that is, perhaps it's saying it's December 23, 2004 rather than July 23, 2004).

that is odd....it ses jan 2 2002
im trying to set it to what today currently is....il get it right and post back if it is working

all is well...system clock was set for jan2 02...odd but its going good now
might as well ask this here then open a new thread....
ive been reading a book called "Hacker Cracker"....very good book
and he said that at one point he opened up xterm and sent a chat invite to this kid that just hacked the isp he was working for.....i did not know that their was a sort of command line AIM so to speak....and being that im addicted to command line beyond all reason...i thought id ask if this thing was avaliable....

Well, not used that often anymore. Look at the commands write and talk. I remember using talk with a sysadmin of an ISP I used to use when I first got on the Internet (this was when it was a per hour charge and there was a lot of small ISPs around).

Check date for that problem... there taht should do it but what program are you installing?
