Red Moons, Sunspots, Auroras and meteors....oh my!
Hey folks-
I havn't seen mention of our recent solar activities.....
I live in Seattle Washington, and our moon has been blood red for two days now..... I havn't been able to find much in way of explanation....a lunar eclipse??
What I did find in my search for a red moon explanation was more or less exactly what was occuring in this post by Raion back in November
We also have the annual Perseid meteor shower
Seems we have a lot of activity to look for, should be interesting.

Heh. Thanks for the heads up on the showers. Be a good excuse to get one of my lady freinds to go out in the middle of the woods to watch. I've seen red moons a few times never new the reason why though. But, I'm in baton rouge, La and it's been a normal color around here.

Faqt, any forest fires in your area (or nearby states)? IIRC, sometimes the smoke from the fires can give off a reddish moon.

Just adding my 2 cents...there have apparently been some pretty serious fires in Alaska? The only reason I know is that it's been really hazy here (in Florida) and on the weather the other night, they said it was smoke from fires in Alaska...some major high pressure bringing it this way I guess? Anyway, that could very well be effecting the moon in your part of the US Faqt.

Interesting! Less than three weeks ago, all programs here in Dallas were interrupted because of a flood of "bright light" reports. Turned out to be a meteor shower, and a HUGE one.
Here's footage a police car-cam took.

Faqt, a red moon is sign of a lunar eclipse.
