Installing Gentoo

i have refer to the installation manual. But i am quite confused with the 3 stage installation. So far i have downloaded the install-x86-universal-2004.2.iso, packages-x86-2004.2.iso. Is there anymore files i need to download to setup gentoo

If i am not wrong gentoo is not a gui based setup one?

no its not gui based, just go to www.gentoo.org and read the docs for installing, there is a quick manual, and a full, i suggest you take the full, since information is much more clear here...

A Gentoo install is not traditionally a GUI based operation nor is it for the impatient either ... if you follow the instructions on the Gentoo site you should not have any problems.

I have never used the package disc - the install disc is all I have used and then "emerged" whatever it is I want later one the base system is up and running.

There is a GUI installer out there for Gentoo. Look at http://gentoo.vidalinux.com/?q=node/view/35 - its based on the Redhat installer - I have never had any luck using it but in saying that, it was some time ago that I tried and some of the bugs with it might have been squashed since. Interesting project all the same. Seems to be plenty of info on Google if you search "Gentoo Anaconda Install"

how about the GRP thingy? but the package cd contains all the misc. software you will need like open office.
