you ntfs one? well you have to mount it

whatever it is in /dev directory

    mount /dev/<whatever you hdd partition is> /mnt/Cdrive

unless it allowed you to mount it when you were installing it in which case just navigate to it .

If you have a question and you cannot find the answer here some good sites are www.liuxquestions.org www.linuxnewbie.org and yeh as muert0 said do the courses at www.linux.org

also on IRC.dal.net the channel #linux is pretty helpful

DreamDown: Welcome to the Linux Family. Your computer experience's are guarenteed to be less worrisome of security risk's and you now will have a more stable/reliable experience. Enjoy!

By the way: I wouldn't recommend RedHat either. Probably Mandrake 8.2 or something to start you off. But hey, if you read some manual's and you have AO for help then you should be good.

    Hey Hey,

DreamDown's been banned, but I'm sure he'll still check this thread..

Anyways, Why Mandrake 8.2? I'm kinda curious as to why you'd tell him to go with an older release of the operating system. Why not one of the newer versions of MDK if you're going that way, I haven't used MDK in a while.. has it been getting progressively worse like RedHat did?

    Peace,
    HT

I don't think much could go "progressively worse" than RH. They stopped supporting RH 9.0 and earlier with the advent of Fedora. Nothing wrong with that except that even Win95 had support up until about 2002 or so (don't know the timelines). I was with RH from 4.x till 9.0 and I wasn't at all happy when they sent me my email saying "We're sorry to say this, but you lose, you no longer have support for RH 9.0 so we won't be charging you.".

    Slackware 10.0 here I come!
We the willing, led by the unknowing, have been doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much with so little for so long that we are now qualified to do just about anything with almost nothing.

Slack 10 isn't bad (although I still get the sound issue -- need to fix that alsa problem). I have found KDE to be a bit problematic: I can't view full headers (it crash the prog and removed the option after the crash. Repeated installs of KDE doesn't work -- and haven't made the time for a clean install). I've also had a few instances where Mozilla (1.7.1) "overloaded" and caused KDE to crash. Not sure if it's KDE not being able to handle things or if it's mozilla. Given that it's be intermittent, I haven't been too worried.

    Otherwise, been nice.
