Open Source Media Player?
Hey, everyone. I'm looking for an open source media player. If you use one and enjoy it, could I bother you to post its name here and a short blurb on why you like it? Thanks.
Regards,
Xierox
<edit> I would need this to run on Windows XP, too. </edit>

I don't use any for Windows nor know of any off the top of my head but XMMS is one that clearly stands out for Linux, http://www.xmms.org . Why do I like it? Can't really explain why, it reminds me of Winamp but for Linux I guess.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I guess I should have clarified. I would need it to be for Windows XP.

I've always used MPlayer on my FreeBSD box. They seem to have a win32 version these days. Don't know how or if it functions properly already, I don't use windows that much at home.

By Open Source, do you really want the sourcecode or just free-of-charge to use aka freeware?

If you don't need source code I would go with winamp. www.winamp.com Rocks your socks off I tell you... very small profile compared to WMP as well.
