Cat Stevens
I'm amazed that nobody's commented yet on Cat Stevens' attempt to fly from London to Washington's Dulles airport last night. His flight was diverted to Maine and he was detained by the authorities.

Yusuf Islam, as he is now known, was quite famous in the 60's and early 70's for his music. I find it quite impressive that the Feds still crack down on draft dodgers even after we elected one twice. I find it more impressive that they stuck him on the watch list. Any comments?

I did not know Cat Stevens was a horrible terrorist. Or if you happen to have a niddle eastern name you are on the blacklist? This reminds me of the Cold War era.

Cat Stevens
Well, I think it's more the 'politically active' part that got him deported back to London. He runs a Muslim school there, plus was banned from Israel, http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/832796.stm
And seems to be a bit outspoken in the media, even though it's about peace.

Frankly I think that since he rejected our way of life, and our government, the feds were right in tossing his bum out. The simple fact that he did so is enough to get him on the watch list, just to make sure he never returns.

Funny, he used to sing that Ahab the Arab song sort of making fun of Arabs. Adios Cat.

plus was banned from Israel
Can you name me a Muslim who is not banned from Israel.
He has not made any records that i have had to listen to for a long time, so i would cut him some slack. Just as long as he does'nt have a chart hit i'm prepared to let him walk.

LOL!! That was Ray Stevens, not Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens had a string of peace songs in the 70's, Morning Has Broken, Peace Train, Wild World, Blowing in the Wind.
And this is yet one more example of why the US needs someone else in charge of things. Are we going to return completely submissively to the McCarthy era when all it took was a whiff of a rumor to get someone prosecuted (or more correctly, persecuted)?
