I would recommend the gum or the inhaler. The few friends I have that have quit (seriously intended to) did better with a once in a while fix, rather than something that pumps nicotine through your system all day.
I tried the patch.. didn't work... bad time to try.
If you have the willpower, cold-turkey does work.

I assume the gum is intented to use less and less as time goes by. This is fooling yourself. If you really want to do this "slowing down till you stop" thing you might as well do it with cigarettes. You could, of course, justify that the gum is less bad, but this really doesn't make any difference if you smoked for more then a couple of months.
When I quit smoking, I quit cold turkey. I recommend doing the same. Try finding something to do that doesn't make it possible for you to smoke (just remember not to choose something that could turn into an addiction).

The gum sucks, and it tastes like ****. A good buddy of mine tried that smokeaway system and he said it took him a week to kick that monkey. I hear it doesn't cost all that much. $30 or so?
Mankind have a great aversion to intellectual labor; but even supposing knowledge to be easily attainable, more people would be content to be ignorant than would take even a little trouble to acquire it.

Yea, it's for pussys who want to give up smoking.
And why do I see books here for an addiction? I'd get pissed and end up using that book for rolling papers.
Why stop smoking? Do you REALLY want those ten years it took off your life? You really want to have to go through a hip replacement? Or have adult diapers on?
That gum..... So like, now that you've actually tasted that ****... Heh, wouldn't you rather chew a ball sac? lol tastes like hell doesn't it? Like some ***** at the quit smoking gum factory rubs each piece with his balls and sticks it up his ass before packaging with love and care.
And don't get me started on that law saying you can't smoke in public. Ohhhhh bitch. ****, going to jail with killers and ****, they ask what you did and you have to look at them and say "I smoke". LOL.

My Grandpa died when I was in first grade. Personally I'm looking forward to being put on a Morphine drip for Cancer.
"You mean I get to smoke, possibly sue a Tobacco company for millions, AND get Morphine until I die?!?!?!?!?!?!?" - gore 2 years ago.

I have quit 5 different times now. 1)Cold turkey 6 months 2)Patches 3 months 3)gum 2 weeks? (didn't get to far) 4) Cold turkey 2.5 years 5) Cold turkey so far 1.5 years and going.
I have had no luck with anything but cold turkey. It is the best and only method imo.
Good luck! You -can- do it. Just have to have the right mind frame.
