1. SpyBot S&D and AdAware 6 should be run in Safe Mode to give them a better chance of removing malware that may have already loaded.

2. Cool Web Search is a particularly troublesome customer and will probably require the CWShredder specialist removal tool (free)

3. SwatIT is a very thorough free product to be used in conjunction with the others. Warning! be patient, thoroughness takes time. Run it in safe mode as well. (free)

4. Activate the resident protection/immunisation in SpyBot S&D (There may be issues with some distributions of Norton)

5. Get a firewall (Sygate and ZoneAlarm do free ones)

6. Turn off preview in your mail client

7. Disable java cacheing in your browser

8. Get WinPatrol from BillP Studios (free)

9. Set your browser history to 0 days

10. After a clean up, defragment in safe mode.
