A lot of the argintinian airforce were of american manufacture. the Us were also selling weapons to the enemy just before the hostilities started and like France they stop selling when they started. As for arm sales to Iraq How much was sold by the US and UK while Saddam was their friend. The point I was hoping to make is that the UN will always be hamstrung as long as one of the 5 permanent members can veto any thing it tries to do.
on the explosive issue: tedob
The US is playing down the significance of a UN letter saying almost 350 metric tons of high explosives went missing from an Iraqi base after the war.

A lot of the argintinian airforce were of american manufacture.
Exocet's were launched from the Dessault Mirage [French] fighter.
the Us were also selling weapons to the enemy just before the hostilities started and like France they stop selling
The French DIDN'T stop. They were being actively targeted by the Argentinian government.
As for weapons sales: As a balance to anti-French [Moi] the Argentine navy practised it's attack profile on the Royal Navy type 42 destroyers, by 'attacking' their own, sold to them by the UK !!!!!
As for arm sales to Iraq How much was sold by the US and UK while Saddam was their friend.
The amounts were piffling compared to the quantity from France. [last figures for the year prior to Gulf II were for US$19 BILLION]
The point I was hoping to make is that the UN will always be hamstrung as long as one of the 5 permanent members can veto any thing it tries to do.
I hear you there; which is why we should be glad that someone on this planet is prepared to put it on the line / walk the walk, et al, and stand up for what WE believe in.
ps : the french STILL get up my nose .......... Sorry Muracu

Hold on.. what is all this talk of missing Iraqi stock piles? Sadam was a clean wholesome gentleman who wanted a peaceful Utopia, he had no ability to stock pile over 1000 weapons depots.

Heya,
foxyloxley --> you are reading too much of www.****france.com ............. When it comes to Wepons exports .................nobody and i mean nobody can beat USA ...............they are the number one ...........and US isn't too choosy about who gets these goodies.......and how much sofesticated the wepons are ................i mean countries like Singapore and Pakistan has F-22's
"The United States was the largest supplier in 1998-2002 with 41% of global deliveries. Russia, in second place, accounted for 22%"
So now 63 % is taken ..............and now 37 % is left for the all other exporters to salvage.
72% of all US arms sales in 1993 went to developing countries. Of those weapons, almost half went to countries that were not democracies.
here is the top 10 list
1. Saudi Arabia
2. Israel
3. Taiwan
4. Korea
5. Egypt
6. Turkey
7. Japan
8. Greece
9. Netherlands
10. Australia
The U.S. government also exported or authorized licenses for arms sales to several states involved in internal conflicts and with poor human rights records: $176 million of arms exports were sent or authorized for export to Colombia in FY 98, $185 million for Mexico, and over $2.1 billion for Turkey, where the U.S. State Dept. has documented the military's use of U.S.-origin arms against civilian populations in its war against the Kurdish rebels. Hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of military equipment and training were also delivered to Ethiopia and Eritrea while a bloody war continues between them, and small amounts of military equipment were also provided to Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone, involved in violent internal conflicts.
So stop cussing the poor French..........

Yes UN needs some radical changes in it's structure and working.................the change has started slowly but it has...................like 3 new membrs have presented their bid for the expansion and their entry into the security council as perment memebrs ( India , Japan and Germany)..............and this veto thingy should be toned down a bit ................it's too much power in one hand .

w00t! We're #1!!!!!! Damn Right Be0tch! TAKE THAT RUSSIA!!!!!
Honestly...you surprised? **** where else we gonna do with the **** weapons that remain in our depos after new and better ones are built? Might as well make some money out of it. If we don't sell it to them, someone else will...and that someone else who's making money, might not be our friend .
and how much sofesticated the wepons are ................i mean countries like Singapore and Pakistan has F-22's
err...the F-22 Raptor is not even fully in service in the US of A yet...soooo where is this information coming from young yoda?
Pakistan has Nukes...you really think they give a **** about your silly F-22 Raptor?
Here are Pakistani's Air Planes that they have in their Air Force:
* F-7 Skybolt
* A-5 Fantan
* F-16 Fighting Falcon
* Dassault Mirage III and Dassault Mirage V
* C-130 Hercules
* MiG-15
* FT-5
* K-8
* T-37
Lockheed Martin landed a $2 billion Pentagon contract to build 22 more F/A-22 Raptor fighter jets for the Air Force, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

The contract "definitizes" terms of an agreement struck in May between Lockheed Martin (LMT) and the Defense Department to build the aircraft - referred to as Lot 4 - at a fixed price, with delivery slated for October, 2006.
Excluding test planes, the order brings to 45 the number of F/A-22s already built or under assembly for the military.
The F/A-22 program aims to replace the F-15 as the nation´s premier air-to-air fighter aircraft. Initially, the program called for 339 of the planes, produced at a rate of 36 a year by 2013.
But the program has been scaled back to about 220 aircraft amid budget concerns and growing sentiment in Washington that current global security risks no longer merit maintaining such costly fleets of fighter planes as they did during the Cold War era.
The first squadron of fully operational F/A-22s is scheduled to be in place by late 2005.
News of the contract landed after the closing bell on Wall Street, where Lockheed Martin shares closed Thursday down 65 cents, or 1.2 percent, at $51.43.

Japan is one of our main trade partners....and we also protect their asses if they need help...since they weren't allowed to build a decent army after WW2. All they have is what they like to call the "Self-Defense" Air Force, Army and Navy....They were recently allowed to enhance their Military after the whole North Korea issue.
Greece is a member of the EU...and it is a Democratic country...hence you have a parliamentary republic.
Australia is our Ally? Australia is a democratic country.
Israel.....errr no ****?
Korea...South or North? You might wanna specify. South Korea is our ally, and we need them well armed if we want to keep North Korea where they are????
Netherlands is a Kingdom, They have a Constitutional Monarchy....and we're cool with them.
Egypt is Democratic....we're friends with them.
Taiwan...they got hot massage therapists and gorgeous women....
So stop cussing the poor French..........

Oppsy i ment F-16 .................that was a typo.
Honestly...you surprised?
Yes and no....................No because they have to be the number one arms exporter no surprise in that................yes by seeing how linent they are is distributing those goddies...............how easily wepon techonology is transferred to distrubed areas.................the thing i was trying to emphasise that how easy it is for rough states to get suficticated technology withoud even a backgroung check....................but oo well **** em who cares.
Pakistan has Nukes...you really think they give a **** about your silly F-22 Raptor?
Yes effective delivery of nuclear wepons is as important than having the nuclear wepons.................and a few Missels brought from North Korea and China i wouldn't considr than effective enough..........they still need effective delivery system.

Friends are not Always good at human right at home ................or transfer them to other rough state......................many of these countries are buying wepons form US and themn reselling them again ..
