the electoral college ensures that the majority of the states don't get governed simply on the grounds of a few states having a higher population than others.
I REALLY want to see you argument behind this.. Since the electoral votes are BASED on population...
We need to really get rid of the electoral college and have the elections done by popular vote only... I cannot see any bad coming out of this other than the fact the candidates in a two party system get screwed over on knowing exactly where to campaign, because it wouldn't matter. ALL the votes in a state would count, not just the ones for a certain candidate... When a state goes for a candidate electorally, all the votes for the other candidate are voided... What a bunch of BS...

You do know it was The_Jinx, not Nihil that said that. Do you?
It was 5:40am and the first coffee was only just in hand.... what can I say.....
I REALLY want to see you argument behind this.. Since the electoral votes are BASED on population...
It's all really rather simple..... During a politicians "tour of duty" he garners favor with people by voting in things that benefit the community in a given area, (new roads, airports, commercial centers, (by virtue of tax breaks), etc. etc. etc. If you do away with the electoral college all those benefits will go to three places, (New York/Washington corridor, northern midwest and the southwest), leaving nothing for the 40 or so other states. This, in turn will move the population to those three regions thus further altering the balance. This will leave the majority of the country as something of a desert. Since this is a federation of states the electoral college was put in place deliberately to avoid this turn of events. They did the right thing.
Don\'t SYN us.... We\'ll SYN you.....

Actually, I could believe that.

Oh for some of us they can't start soon enough. Might as well start the next four years of war off right with civil unrest!

wow someone doesn't support a republican government... i believe it is your type of people who should be (at the very least) sent to north korea so they can test their "weapons" on your ass.
Notice, the states that voted for bush are the stereotypical hicks, and the stereotypical least educated people.
We are all going to die, or at least, thousands if not millions will die because of this election. Remember kiddies: Kim Jung will not disarm unless we do something for N.K. - Bush doesn't want to negotiate multilaterally, or even, at all. If we attack n.k., they nuke soeul (sp) South Korea. Killing millions of innocent people. You ****ing idiots voting for Bush, just wait and see what happens.
Maybe we will get off easy, at the very least, and just watch our national debt grow to tens of trillions..
