Formating
Ok, this is a completly newbie question but I've only formatted twice. Here's the problem..I need to format my pc (too much ad-aware and etc and 4yrs without formatting) I've only formated my computer 2 times using Win98 System Recovery Discs. I sold my original Win98 CD and burned it CD-to-CD. Well, now I'm wondering if I format would I need a boot disc? (I don't want to use the Recovery Discs, want to avoid at all costs..don't ask me why) I don't have a Win2000 Original CD because let's face it...I can't afford it and Win98 sucks. I don't want to create a boot disk because it seems like my Floppy drive has some sort of problems because every floppy I insert into it (and modify it's contents) when I pop it back it in says "This disk is not formatted would you like to format?" I try to format and it won't format. But that's a seperate problem. Thank you.

P.S. Please I don't need any reccomendations to switch to Linux, I'm happy with Windows for now (or at least till I buy a seperate Hard Drive because my HD is to small to partition)

Couldn't you just install Win2000 pro,
because then you just boot off the Windows 2000 pro CD, assuming off course that
you have a bootable Win 2000 pro CD.

Sounds to me you have the 2000 pro upgrade cd.
Well if you are having issues with your floppy this can cause an issue with formatting unless you have a full version of 2000 pro. Floppy problem could be an issue with a driver not the floppy itself. Floppy drives rairly screw up its more software related. Also try a can of air in the floppy drive to remove any dust particles.
Check these two sites out they should help you out.
