We could use this as the new-age replacement for the firing squad. A firing squad consists of several members, most have blanks, but one has the "live" bullett. That way, no one knows who really killed him, which help alleviate guilt.
Using the web cam, no one will ever know who's click caused the rifle to fire. Same idea, more public entertainment.

This is rich. One guy makes a stupid site and that influences your opinion of all America? Just goes to show what's wrong with the rest of the world, I guess.
And by the way, it's not like this gun is out in public like all of you make it sound. Not that I would pay for the privelege of a having a computer shoot a gun for me, but if I pay to have control over a gun that shoots at paper targets then that's my business. Did any of you actually go to the site to see what is it about or did you all just trust in the mighty CNN to tell it to you straight? Eh?
CNN - Entertainment news at it's finest!!!!
P.S. Try reading about it before you pass judgement.
From the site...
"LIVE-SHOT is a new concept. You can challenge yourself and compare your skills to other members with our on-line target shooting. We have developed a system where you can control a pan/tilt/zoom camera and a firearm to shoot at real targets in real time.
While your membership is active, access the viewing cameras to see how others stack up to your abilities, control the pan/tilt/zoom camera to take a look around, and schedule a reservation for your on-line shooting experience.
Currently, shooters will be able to fire 10 (ten) .22 caliber rounds at paper and silhouette targets. You may also have a DVD recording and/or the paper target from the session shipped as an option. Look for additional, varied shooting systems along with competitions to come online soon.

At first I was like WTF (who the f) would put something like that on the net. Letting someone aim a gun and fire upon some field somewhere. But then I came to some rational sense that it's probably bs. So did anyone look at the site besides a few?
At all times during a shooting session, someone is at the shooting station and is available to answer questions (e-mail, instant messaging), provide assistance, and ensure a quality experience. This person has the ability to override the firing mechanism of the system to minimize the chance of a dangerous or illegal discharge from occurring.
Bottom line if your anti gun this site probably is appalling but the aren't doing anything outside of a controlled range and to my knowledge you aren't shooting cute little bunnies hoping along the hills.

/me throws out Unreal Tournament.
where's the sign-up line
people shoot at animals anywas, why not make it via web, if there really is gonna be someone next to the gun or station watching then i wouldn't have any problems with this scenario.

Lesson 1 - Stupidity often is painful. We all wish it was painful all the time.
Lesson 2 - There is no such thing as a completely secure system.
And from the not so silent majority -
Please quit your Bush bashing. The election is over. Even your own candidate was intelligent enough to realize he'd lost fairly and conceeded this time. If you hate our country so much, please feel free to leave it, I promise we'll get along quite nicely without you.

Lets not get in to a political debate on here, but in response to your post I would just like to quote Theodore Roosevelt (A republican) who said
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public",
So its not a case of hating the country, in fact those who accuse people of that would seem to hate the very ideals they claim they are trying to uphold.
Now, back to the site, from what it says no innocent bunnies are being shot, just paper targets, which as far as I know are not an endagered species, nor can be used to make hats, boots, or any other garments.

Girls and boys.......
Read the site.... not the frigging media!!!!!!!
This is paper target shooting!!!!! You can get your paper target sent to you for a price!!!! It even says in the FAQ that there is always an attendant there when shooting is taking place and he will disarm the weapon if something is being aimed at that shouldn't be "like a bird flying onto the range".....
Secondly, I don't care how clever you think you are with that computer of yours but this hick has one thing over you....... He can disable the weapon by placing the safety catch in the safe position.... Love to see all you leet skiddies put it back to fire.....
JP..... I am surprised that you suckered for this report and then didn't investigate for yourself.... Or is your hate blinding you..... Maybe I'm not surprised.......
Don\'t SYN us.... We\'ll SYN you.....
