I think Google actually has a great idea going. Assuming you don't sturate your inbox with hordes of large attachments, you can kepp all your mail in it and theoretically not delete anything for years. You can then use Google search technology to find any email you want in a matter of seconds, rather than sorting through your inbox wondering where "that email" went.

Well what about this theory also? You have to be invited. Meaning someone has to be kind enough to give you one. Then you're part of this "in crowd" with a e-mail that only invited speacial people have.
I'm speaking partly from personal experience here. Then i got my account and also read up about it.
I will however give a link for the oppisite to this case and perhaps deter some from gmail.
Take it for what it's worth I still have my account.
    G-mail is too creepy.

well i work a lot in photshop and other stuff i cannot write every image (8.psd files) which are around about 5 to 10 mb ,as they are too small for a cd and nither can i transfer to a floppy as they are too large and floppies take a lot of space in my bag and are fragile , so i can link it up to gmail and send it to my friends and also kind of stock pile it too .
    so gmail lives.
currently i ve around 500 mb of files in my gmail account

and O! sorry no more gmail invites left.
