Thread: Windows NT 4.0 inaccessible?

  1. #11
My boss was the first one in, he went upstairs after he started his machine and was inable to access the "backup", "L: Drive", and "K: Drive" the machine had that error- It restarted on it's own.

We tried a "simple" restart after the error was encountered then continued to run test "blah, blah" then it didn't work so we took it out switched another server to primary and I've got this one open running test up and down the thing. Nothings changed aside from that initial restart it did on its own (guessing it crashed and corrupted something maybe) but test almost done. Then will see if it goes back online.

The test "Passed" but- still doesn't work.

do you have a repair disk??

do you have the install disks...??

    Is the disk NTFS??

do you have another NT machine handy to make a boot disk...

No other NT Machines, repair disk and install disk I believe are handy. Hm, I don't think the test is telling the truth- it found another error after it said "All Errors were Finished and Fixed." I think the Hard-Drive is dead.

    Sorry to hear

if you need to recover data or files off the drive...slave it into another machine...you may still be able to read from it

You could try a parallel install...dont format..just install into a different dir then your original directory ..default is C:\WINNT

    Hope you have backups

We've got backups, looks like were going to be limping around for a couple days- getting the backups onto a new hard-drive and resetting up the scanners, software, and various other things.

It's gonna take some time, thanks for your help though.
