Thread: Windows 2000 Server

I'm the assistant administrator, not the lead administrator I'm only 18 I asked my boss for the details and that's all he gave me.

All I know is we've got two "Windows 2000 Servers" and "Windows NT" and they all store backups, the "Windows NT" is currently the primary domain controller and DHCP Server, with two drive backups, the other Windows 2000 Server has 3 more in it, and the new one has one.

Kid sounds like me when I first came here.

You definately need to prod your boss for more details, as this isn't much to work with. I'm kinda wondering why he didn't just go ahead and upgrade the NT to W2k. I'm wondering even more why an NT server would be the PDC over some W2k machines.

Take the questions they've asked you here and zing them at your boss. Surely if he expects you to get the hang of this as asst. net admin, he'll give you some answers to help better familiarize you with the network.

As I was once told when I got started here, it sounds to me you've been "thrown to the wolves" with this job. Getting a good grip on this position is going to require a LOT of question asking and research...not to mention patience.

Yea, Thanks... I've sort of been thrown to the wolves. He excpects me to solve the problem but I don't see how I could solve it with very little details about everything. It's my first week here to.

Makes it even worst :\ Trying though.
