and Have you tried Reseting the BIOS? (well Clear the CMOS)

your talking about flashing the BIOS.. have you tried this? when did you.. what Bin file are you useing.. and how can you now if the machine will only run for 5 seconds?

When did this "siren" noise start.. before or after the replacement of the PSU..

puzzeled about the drive setup... you have 2 physical HDDS and a DVD rom.. but the DVD rom is disconnected because the system won't boot wit it connected? so what have you got pluggen into IDE-0 and what is in IDE-1 (primary and Secondary ide channels) and are the devices assigned correctly..ie master/slave..

Have you tried, trying to start the machine with only the hdd, video card, different keyboard, different mouse, NO USB devices, NO FIREWIRE devices (or leads), no internal modem, no other cards, one stick of memory, and for the hell of it.. no front panel leads connected.. well except for the power switch wires

But first and formost.. have you cleared tyhe CMOS (reset the Bios)?

Seems I'm a bit confused on my terms here...what I did was took out the battery for about 5 minutes, and put it back in, tried to boot the system. And I also used the jumper option to clear the CMOS.

The siren started after I stuck the new PSU in, and hooked it all up, and tried to boot for the first time.

As for my phyiscal setup, 2 HDDs, a DVD-rom drive and a CDRW drive. With my old PSU, I only had enough juice to run one at a time. So I chose the CDRW since I burn more CDs than DVDs I watch. I have both HDDs in IDE-0. 80gig as Primary and my 120gig Storage one as slave. And on IDE-1, I had my CDRW as a primary(being the only drive using IDE-1). All devices are assigned in a working order, Since I was able to install my PSU without having to unhook any IDE cables for the HDDs and CDRW, so the same setup was working with the old PSU.

Tried the system with only Video Card, 1 stick of memory in each slot. As for my front panel, All I have hooked up normally is my Power button and my reset button(Pretty basic tower).

Ahhh..ok..

have you tried your old PSU on the system--ok with the optical drives removed- You have already tested it in another machine so we know it works..and it did before in the machine..

If it works ok once reconnected.. then the problem is with the new PSU (strange but about the most likely at this point) it either is faulty, or a non-compatable ATX type (but hasn't damaged the Mobo)
Now if the system still errors You would have to assume that a problem has occured in the MoBo-
Probable causes :-
Random Failure
The PSU is a different ATX format and has damaged the mother board
or the psu is faulty and has damaged the mobo
CPU mounting, heatsink or thermal sensor failure,
A short has developed between the Mobo and the case (just another coincidence)

I am sure we could come up with more possabilities

It sounds as if you already had a problem to me.

Old PSU - Forget the make and model, but it was a 450W

CD + DVD + 2 x HDD.............that should run OK on 350W, let alone 450W

I am afraid it sounds like a MoBo fault to me, paticularly as you now get the same fault with the old PSU. I would just re-check all the connections, and that the fans are running properly. The symptoms do seem like overheating, but, as Undies said, that could be a faulty sensor? It might be worth checking the CPU seating and replacing the thermal compound (use SILVER, not the white muck). If you are lucky, it might be a real heat problem, and that will fix it.

I have come across case opened warnings, but they are usually visual, and the machine has to boot into the BIOS first. It sounds as if your machine isn't even getting that far?

well, the siren is new for me, but the sympton - 5 sec shutdown - is not.

a) processor is not correctly plugged in:
b) the m/b has a cpu heat protection but it can detect cpu fan. Did you connect the fan in the appropriate place?
c) cpu is overheat. May the heat sink/fan has some installation problem.
d) you had connected an 1.5v agp board, right?
e) you are plugging the power cable up-side-down

Well, tried re-hooking everything up with both PCs. Tried re-installing the processor/heatsink. Figures, its about time to give up. Newegg approved my return request. I'm still curious as to how giga-byte will respond to my email asking about the siren. But anyways, thanks for the help and suggestions. Maybe I need to look into a quick video for advanced hardware installation/setup so I quit frying my parts.
