Has anyone applied these patches recently?
I have a couple of Windows 2003 servers that I decided to do Windows Update on. It recommended the following patches and I was wondering if anyone has applied these, and if there have been any negative affects.
kb890175 -- listed as Moderate for Windows 2003
kb891711 -- Listed at Critical for Windows 2003
kb871250 -- Listed as Important for Windows 2003
thanks

I suggest you read this posted by AO Member Tiger Shark
http://www.antionline.com/showthread...hreadid=265293
Also if you look up the actual vulnerabilities on the MS site....
you wil see that the first 2....you have to visit a malicious web page to expose yourself to these vulnerabilities....being a server.....it shouldnt be used to browse the internet.
The last one kb871250 has to do with the indexing service and it again depends if you have that service enabled.
Read Tiger Sharks post
Depending on the role of your systems...you should then decide if you require these patches.
IMHO...turn of all ports\services you dont use and patch as needed.

Nope, mine are all workstations. We have -003 applied on about 20 or so servers, but the other two, since they require user interaction, aren't as much of a concern for the server environment.
