Now on to the matter at hand... Before your client goes out and buys an XP Pro upgrade for every machine, have him (or her) buy a single copy and test it.... Upgrading from XP Home to XP Pro has been known to cause issues... We have about 600 new students that come in with their own laptops every year... and they usually have XP Home and they are required to have XP Pro which we provide.. many decided to just do the upgrade... They experiences problems with Visual Studio .Net, DSL (PPPoE) and a few other minor issues.... Sometimes (if you can afford it)... The fresh install is better, just to avoid the headaches.

rotflmao neg... I agree with XTC though I am 15 yrs old and (with good reason due to my age ) often get called a kid but I know 20x more then my computer teacher who is suppose to know more then the whole class. The only reason I don't get 100% on his tests would be because it's in spanish and I don't know the translation to a lot of the computer components.

I've come to deal with the sales drones by asking for SPECIFICALY the part I want. Part number, price (if I can get it from their web site), etc. If they want an explanation, I tell them "I want the part. The details aren't your concern." It pisses them off sometimes, but f$ck 'em. I don't want advice, I want hardware. And my favorite place to do this? Good 'ole CompUSA!

I agree with you about upgrading compared to a fresh install...

The client wants it done as cheaply as possible...
although I have seen some pretty mucked machines that have been upgraded..

You spend more time resolving the issues..and it works out to the same.

I may just start fresh....
