2 suggestions from this little corner of the world:
1. diversify. Don't just take the basics and computer courses required for your degree. Round yourself out for better knowledge - a good course in business administration, accounting, fine arts, and industrial arts will make all the difference. You'll get jobs easier that way, knowing a bit more about the day to day workings of wherever you're applying. Never be a "one trick pony."
2. Don't... let me reiterate DO NOT get to college and major in 'Party'. We all swore to the world we wouldn't do this, but the majority of us did. Shots and cooters might sound like a fun thing to have on any given night, and it's fine for one or so nights a week, but not every freakin night. All things in moderation or your grades will eternally suffer. On the other side of the fence, don't be so 'study' oriented that you forget to have fun. College is where you meet folks who may be your boss someday, or important contacts for you in the business world. To not make friends is to hurt yourself career wise. Besides, who's gonna help you move your junk OUT of the dorm when you decide to rent your own place?
Luck to you!
