Well mine is as paranoid as usual.

Keep your personal data to yourself. No names, no SSNs, no CC Numbers. If it ain't there it can't be stole.

Hey thumb drives, CD/DVDs even the humble floppy ( make a back up, that media is not too reliable ) can all store your stuff off the box?

It might appeal to people's lazy nature to store everything on the machine and have it auto-update form fields.........................after some pond life has skimmed ten thousand bucks out of your account, will it seem that cool.

I can handle human obesity, intellectual and mental obesity I cannot.

Links might not lead where you think they do. Take a few seconds and type the address yourself.

Make sure the doorway is open before entering the room.. The bleeding obvious is often overlooked when a computer has a problem..example: Is the power lead securly connected and powered? are you sure it is the lead that is powered?

Do not get involved in illegal activities to look "l337"; this includes defacement, virus writing, Trojan use and DoS. Imagine ending up in prison or fined $1000 because you scribbled "1 0\/\/ j00 suX0r5!". It ain't worth it and you will impress nobody important just other script kiddies. Oh, and if you are into handles don’t pick one from the film "Hackers", I have seen so many 'Zero-Cool's and 'Acid Burn' handles to make me sick.

From something I wrote ages ago, somebody ap'd me for it and I deserve clothes because I am poor. Vote Ennis!

I have never maid a quick tip before but I think this is a very good one.

If you are running a DNS server that is used for internal as well as external use on your network make sure to disable zone transfers because this information can be used by an attacker to gain valuable information on your network.

and here is one more I just thought of.

A computer, server and a router is only as secure as the room it is in.

    Another one in the row:

"Remember not to open or excute any file remotely, download the file, scan it, and then open it on non-sensitive-data computer. Opening files in this way is just like putting your hand in dark and unknown hole 'Uncharted water'"

Swallow your silly pride and read the (TFM) Trusted Facility Manual, entitled "Administrator's and User's Security Guide," it's free and available on the Microsoft web site. ~ !mitationRust

If mine don't make it on the "quick tip" generator, I will have to seriously question the "security knowledge" of this sites admins and mods.
