    Hmmm,

You have removed the 64Mb RAM strip?

If you have it sounds like the other one has been damaged............

    Please go here: http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/

And get the free "sandra" diagnostics toolkit. Then run it against your memory.

    Cheers

I am unsure as to which piece of software I am supposed to be downloading since none of the descriptions have the word 'free' in them, but I had a thought. Could a severely fragmented harddrive be causing these 'lag' sessions? I haven't performed a full system defragmentation in almost a year and I have installed/uninstalled, downloaded/deleted a hell of a lot. I have tried to defrag. a few times lately but after after 12 hours and only 4% completion, it just isn't realistic as other members of my family need the PC.

    Hi Raccoon,

Please boot into "safe mode" then run the defragmentation. You should also run your antispy and antiadware proggies...............then your AV

I ran Disk Defragmenter last night in Safe Mode and it completed successfully. I have also run my spyware/adware programs aswell as my antivirus. The problem is still occuring!

    Hi Raccoon

Please accept my appologies for how long this is taking............it is a hell of a lot easier when you have the little toad on your bench and can threaten it with a screwdriver (and I do NOT mean vodka and orange)

I am now starting to suspect that whatever took out your 64 probably damaged the 256 in the process? I have a tool to check it............will try to compress it for you for tomorrow
