wuauclt.exe
http://www.liutilities.com/products/...brary/wuauclt/
Description:
Wuauclt.exe is a process managing automatic updates for Windows. This process continuously checks for the latest updates by going online. This process should not be removed if you want to get informed about new updates.
Good, but I have turned off automatic updates, then why this process is started?

Well,
It is the client that checks for updates, not the update program itself.

Why should it chechs for updates if I said not to do it Doesn't matter that it is not the program itself.

Hi Danielsd,
Another point, is that disabling Automatic Updates in Control Panel does not shut down the process, according to this thread (page 4) below.
Instead, you must use services.msc to 'actually' shut it down

That is true, it is a service.I am not sure if there is any connection to the changes that MS have made to the update system..................it is now at version 5?
I have just looked at my WinME system, it is running a program callled "wupdmgr.exe" even though there is a "wuauclt.exe" in C:\Windows\
Nothing starts automatically.............
