Preventing user access to a partition
Hiya,
Just a simple question, is there a registry key or something similar that can prevent a user and there programs/ games accessing a certain parition on windows XP? if not is there a third party piece of software that would allow me to do this.
cheers

yea...right click on the partition and go to the security tab. from there only give specific users rights instead of "everyone"

With linux if thats what you mean, you would use chmod to set the permissions

I think he means, if you've got a dual boot system and you don't want people accessing your linux partition using explore2fs or whatever, how do you stop that? That's a good question. Coz the chmod permissions won't work with explore2fs. Can that be secured?

Couldn't you encrypt the partition? If not using native utilities then it could be done with 3rd party software right?
"Do you know why the system is slow?" they ask
"It's probably something to do with..." I look up today's excuse ".. clock speed"

That's true, but is there anyway to keep it from showing up at all?

Using GPOs, you can hide partitions in explorer, but that's really all it does, hide it from explorer...

What are GPOs? You mean it doesn't show up in explore2fs? or it doesn't show up in computer management as well?
