Hmmm,

I must say that I am not a great fan of these "personal popularity" type things, amusing though they can be. I feel that there is a certain risk of divisiveness............... they maybe better in Cosmos or Technical Humour?

However, I would comment that "moderating" is rather different from being a knowlegeable, contributing member to a site (any site, not just this one). It is sort of like being referee/adjudicator/umpire at a sports event, rather than playing the game yourself?

Some forums will require more effort than others...........?.............hey, who "moderates" hardware?..........Several of us have pictures of swollen capacitors and fried MoBos (they all talked in the end )..............but I have not seen any flames in that forum?

And besides, we all know I'm the least popular moderator (and proud of it, too..) I myself, nihil, aren't a fan of popularity contests (probably because I don't win, haha) but also because they are too childish and remind me of those "high school" type of things.

Moderation is another word for "holding back" and that is always bad forthe psyche.

But, besides that, I could mod OSs and tech humor. I've had that voted by others. I don't ask to mod anything because if I deserve it, the offer would come to me.

Very well said young man, very well said. The folks at JM should only call upon people they feel are qualified and not yield to those who ask or beg to be a "mod" for the status.


Spyder.....don't talk to me about "least popular" until you've racked up as many negative APs as I have. I am the RED KING .

I've said a lot of controversial stuff because I call things the way I see them. I'm not here to impress, I'm not here for popularity or status. I'm here because I love this site and the educational enrichment it has brought to me. The only time I've really bitched about APs resulted in several people getting banned because they were abusing the system. I've never been banned, never had to come back several times with new identities and try to bullshit my way onto some exalted list or beg for status to get gratification. I come from a generation that believes that a man's word is his bond, that honesty is the best policy. If I help one person, if I only make a difference in one life then I've done my job. I don't need accolades or applause because I'm content in the knowledge that I've made a difference.

If I've insulted anyone with this thread....that's life. I started it in the name of fun. I have no control over the outcome and if that outcome has bruised some egos, well....maybe that's not a bad thing. In the grand scheme of things we're all insignificant and therefore all equals.
