Ok Cemetric, we agree to disagree on some things. I'm not gonna claim to be a Bible expert, cuz I read the Bible and took my own interpretation. I dont go to church, and I never have ( and probably never will)

    Jinxy,

who would be prosecuted: the owner or the thief?

Well the thief would be prosecuted for taking and driving away. The owner could be prosecuted as it is against the law to leave a vehicle unattended with the engine running, at least on the public highway it is. That applies even if the doors are locked.

OK, to be fair, in your post you said in the neighbours drive way. I just posted because I thought your analagy was not that good. Some ones driveway may well be considered public highway over here, but that would depend on the bylaws in there area.

I don't want to get into a theological discussion, I have my beliefs, I choose not to preach them as I believe faith to be an intensly personal choise.

I would like to say though that in some cultures putting temptation in some persons reach is tountamount to actualy committing a crime.

As for god hates, "fags".........fags is slang for cigaretts. Hence my rather throw away first post.

AMEN! and so mote it be!

Actually i started this thread because of one i started earlier on anti-war protests outside of veterans hospitals. it just seemed to put "there's a time and a place for everything" into better prospective along with those who would do such things.

Well, I'm a pretty affirmed Nihilist and have some rather different approaches to the whole "God situation". Western law and social law is pretty in step with most religious teachings. If someone lives a lawful life, they most likely live as a "good" person.

If God wants to condemn you for having a same-sex partner, pre-marital sex, comdomn usage, being covetous (but not stealing), or not whorshipping It in general, what is that god to you? What are the gods to us if they offer nothing but damnation unless we willingly or subservantly heed the whip? Even the zealot that blindly serves has motives of Heaven and reward--not mere conviction alone.

If I lived as a good person, but per say I were gay (and had been sent to Hell because of it) at that point I think I would simply adopt the doctrine of my new surroundings and make the best of it. The epic poem "Paradise Lost" by John Milton comes to mind. If we as simple, insignificant mortals can create this kind of logic and morality, I don't want to worship a god that forces people to suffer eternally because I disagreed with its opinion on sexual orientation.

In the UK if you left your car running and some one stole it there is a good chance you would be prosecuted. Not only that but your insurance company would refuse to pay out on a claim
    Thank goodness God isn't British.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Carry on.

    [edit]
Actually, I don't think gays in general are that defensive about their lifestyles. Compare it with Christians. If people would say that Christians are bad and that it's okay to exterminate them, you'd probably feel under attack too, trying to justify the things you believe in.
I don't feel guilty about what I feel, whom I am. But I do feel that sometimes people tend to attack me and as a lioness I go into defense mode. If someone would claim here that Jesus Christ was a false prophet then I bet many people here will start to get into this defensive mode too.
    Well actually...

I can only tell you from what I've experienced firsthand -- But the gays I've known are TOUCHY. Hyper touchy. Will get super ticked off at the very drop of a hint of disaproval of them. Trust me, I made the mistake of trying to set my beliefs aside and befriending one. He tried to SUE me later. (That's what I get for being nice and open minded, I suppose.)

Today I have ONE bisexual friend who doesn't get all in a tiff because I disagree with her. She lives her way, I live mine, and we're quite good friends. That's got to be the exception of the far too many super touchy "think like I do or you suck" gays that I've encountered.

    Now back to this:

f people would say that Christians are bad and that it's okay to exterminate them, you'd probably feel under attack too, trying to justify the things you believe in.
Nope. I hear it ALL the time. I gave up trying to argue a long time ago. And as you can see pre-edit, I wasn't going to post anything on this thread regarding the topic. I don't think I would accomplish anything, so I just think differently and keep to myself. But then I find your comment, realizing that my staying silent won't be noticed unless I bring up that I'm staying silent (how's that for ironic? ).

Being christian = you WILL be HATED by MANY. No sense in trying to argue or defend, just live your life. Many of us have learned to do that. So if you jump up and loudly declare Jesus a false prophet, or call for the execution of all us crazy christians, well, you have fun with that. I'm really not interested in defending myself. Take it or leave it, that's how I am. I DON'T feel a need to defend myself, and I'm not touchy on this matter.

Anywho, just to add some perspective there...

And for the record, God loves "fags". He's not a fan of the lifestyle, but there's not a human being He doesn't feel quite highly affectionate for. Now as far as His religious fans, some of them are a bit confused and out there.
