The FDA is currently deciding on making it an over the counter drug but it is legal.
Admittedly, my information on birth control is a bit dated as I've not had the need to worry about such things in awhile. Last I'd heard on it there was this huge controversy. Did they ever resolve the 'late term abortion' issue with it?

One thing....If someone is willing to insert a wire to reap out a baby.... well they need to be checked out mentally to begin with.

Something that is done prior to a legal abortion (here anyway).

I think the antiarbortion movement like to make out that women go to a hospital and have this done like an oil change at a garage.

Here anyway women have to go through mor than one consultation with trained staff to make sure the women has

    A) made the right choice (for herself)
    B)Is aware of the alternatives
C)Is not under duress to have this done ie.pressure from familty etc.

It's never going to happen if they have to go for the boiling water+hoover option.

When hearing these stories about abortion and anti-abortion I just have to think about a case in Ireland that I heard about a few years back. A teenage girl (I think she was 16) got pregnant after being raped by some guy. The guy was arrested and convicted so justice worked fine. But this girl could not accept the fact that she had to give birth to something created through violence. She could not bear the thought of giving birth to the child of that rapist.
Yet she lived in Ireland where abortions were illegal. So she wanted to travel to the UK where abortions are legal. But a whole court case started over this to stop her from having this abortion and she was even threatened that she would be jailed if she had this child aborted... Even worse, the rapist also tried to prevent the abortion claiming that she had no right to abort his child! He had to protest from jail but he still protested against it.

But the girl got what she wished for. The baby got aborted and could continue living a reasonable normal life with just a bad experience as a memory...

I think you need to be a woman yourself to understand that no matter about the situation, but we are in control over our own bellies. We have to carry it for 9 months and we tend to get very emotional attached to this unborn life. I don't think any woman will even forget her child even if she had an abortion. I just don't believe it that women are using this as an easy way of birth control.

What are the alternatives to abortion anyways? Either raise the child and thus you're dedicated to this task for several years until the child is reasonable independant. Or give up the child for adoption and always wonder what happened to your child. These choices are just as hard as abortion to me...

Katja, there is open adoption. That is where you give the child up for adoption but when the child is old enough he/she knows that you are his/her birth mother and you can still be part of their lives just with another family raising the child.
