texan ,I would get a good mobo(important something like msi,gigabyte,asrock,to name a few)then no less than 1gig ddr 400 corsair ram or transcend,no less than 200 gig hdd(remember to make a boot partition!! at least 5-6gig),500watt power supply if you are looking at a good screencard which these days are power hungry(nvidea,radeon 256 mb-256 bit at least 16 pipelines etc..)Intel does it for me ,it is stable most of the time but it is really up to you like the ppl said here depends what you use it for ..Determine that first and go from there

i have to second cyberpower systems....
i bought 3 systems from them over the years... always satisfied
UNIX IS user friendly, it\'s just very choosy about who it calls a friend.
